MazaoHub’s data-driven digital agronomy technologies are transforming the way smallholder farmers access vital insights, and this win serves as a testament to the power of homegrown solutions in addressing Africa’s agricultural challenges. Tanzania has once again shown the world that our local innovations can thrive on a global stage.

The event, hosted by Delta40 Venture Studio, Novo Nordisk Foundation, and the BioInnovation Institute, gathered over 40 investors, 50 founders, corporates, and key players in the agri-tech ecosystem—all focused on promoting innovation, investment, and impactful partnerships.

Waga motion Successfully Tests EV Charger in Tanzania, Set to Expand Charging Infrastructure

Wagamotion, an electric mobility company, recently tested its 7kW electric vehicle (EV) charger on a Nissan Leaf in Tanzania. The test was successful, marking a significant step in the company’s plans to provide EV charging infrastructure in the country.

Wagamotion aims to install these chargers following established standards and guidelines. In addition to the installation and lifecycle management of charging solutions, the company offers a range of services, including EV charging stations, software for managing EV fleets and operations, and integration with local payment systems to facilitate transactions.

Young Innovators Shine at 2024 Tanzania’s Sprint Up Pitch Competition

On Thursday, 10th October 2024, the Innovators Sprint Up Programme National Pitch Competition 2024: Tanzania Edition took place in Dar es salaam, bringing together innovators, partners and stakeholders to witness ten young innovators showcasing their solutions. 

During the competition, these young innovators showcased their innovative solutions from where three top innovators were recognized. These three innovators will join top innovators from other EAC countries and represent Tanzania in the Regional Cross-Border Tour—an opportunity through which they will gain market exposure and learn from leading entrepreneurs across the region.

Other innovators include Ranhald Mwanyika (Founder of Vitha Pocket Budgeting), Moses Nandi (Founder of Darasa Reports), Emile Marco Malley (Founder of Taka-Smart), Adelaide Jachi (Founder of Kisura Pepea), William Frank (Founder of Kibenki), Nice Nicholaus (CEO of Akili Yangu ) and Fanleck Chaula (CEO of Vatten Smart Irrigation). 

The Innovators Sprint up Programme is part of the East African Community (EAC) project—Digital Skills for an Innovative East African Industry (dSkills@EA)—implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the Inter-university Council for East Africa (IUCEA) across 7 EAC Partner States. The aim of the Programme is to train and equip young innovators and budding entrepreneurs at universities and recent graduates across the Partner States (Burundi, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, United Republic of Tanzania, and Uganda) with skills in innovation management and startup venture building, enhance their capacities to establish sustainable business models and facilitate linkages to the innovation ecosystem.
