Meet Lillian Secelela Madeje

She is a Founder and Business Development Leader at Niajiri Platform who uses the power of innovation and engagement to serve the global community.

Lilian has worked in human capital development in Tanzania, doing corporate trainings that involved reviewing reams of resumes. The tediousness of screening and feedback together with her passion for innovation and empowerment, led her to start Niajiri Platform Ltd. in 2018—a digital interface for workforce development. Niajiri Platform leverages machine learning and data analytics to equip individuals with job-ready skills and connect them with suitable opportunities. It also streamlines the recruitment process for employers, providing access to a network of talented professionals.

As a business evangelist and serial entrepreneur, Lilian has also founded/co-founded other businesses and tech initiatives in Tanzania including Ekihya Consulting Limited, a company that works with businesses to build processes and improve efficiencies; Bits & Bytes, a tech conference that explores the ways that innovation and technology can come together to raise standards of living throughout society; and a food franchise

Lilian’s passion for development extends beyond business as she actively contributes to social impact initiatives, as evidenced by her qualitative research work on financial inclusion with IDEO.org. She has also worked with organisations such as ILO under Global Entrepreneurship flag in running Hackathons and startup challenges as well as several other organizations through Bits and Bytes. Lilian has facilitated various events including the Bill and Melinda Gates Grand Challenge Exploration 2019, Energy Safari under the HIVOS program, WFP Tanzania Innovation Safari as well as taking part in the WFP-X Accelerator 2021.She also sits on boards of innovative organisations such as Digital Opportunity Trust Tanzania and Majicom, among others. 

Lilian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Park University and also has an MBA from the African Leadership University School of Business based in Kigali, Rwanda. She is also a proud recipient of the Sherwood Marlowe Memorial Award from her alma mater which recognises alumni for volunteer services and civic engagement.

Niajiri has an employability curriculum which equip users with essential skills for today's job market and ensure users are well-prepared for industry demand. Modules cover the following:

Niajiri also enhances job seekers' visibility with tools like CV builders, skills inventories, and personalized SWOT analyses, helping them craft standout profiles. For employers, Niajiri provides access to a curated pool of assessed and trained candidates, streamlining the recruitment process.

Through strategic partnerships and outreach, Niajiri reaches underserved communities, empowering diverse job seekers to pursue their career goals confidently. For instance, through the Unikonekt series, conducted in different regions in the country including Dar es salaam, Dodoma, Arusha, Morogoro, Mwanza and in Zanzibar, Tanzanian university students and recent graduates get employability coaching and an opportunity to learn of interviewing skills so as to better prepare them for the job market. 

By offering courses, assessments, online interview coaching, and job opportunities, Niajiri effectively bridges the gap between curated talent and employers.

 Call for Proposals on Scaling Digital and Green Innovations in Africa 

The Digital and Green Innovation Joint Action is a 24 month programme that aims at operationalising the advancement of the twin transition to a green and digital economy, with a strong focus on entrepreneurship and innovation. It will foster digital solutions that tackle environmental challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss, while contributing to circular and resilient local economies with a grant of 150,000 euros per project to five projects.
